The event will be held in a marquee at London Shenley Club near Watford on 29th September. Originally slated for March 2020, the cook-off has been moved from its usual central London location to ensure the safety of the finalists and attendees.

The new venue offers more ventilation, allows greater social distancing and will operate with a reduced capacity for the evening awards ceremony. London Shenley Club is a unique and attractive all-year-round location that hosts private events, weddings and corporate cricket matches. The grounds are set in the idyllic Hertfordshire countryside, offering stunning surroundings.

The other aspects of the competition will remain unchanged, however, with the 16 finalists, who all work in event or business and industry catering, being tasked with recreating their signature dishes for our panel of expert judges. The winner will take home the overall title and £1,000 in prize money. They will also compete in a Technical round using products supplied on the day, and a vegetarian Quorn round.

Kirkpatrick, who won Street Food Chef of the Year in 2019, told us: “I’m really looking forward to finally competing again. I’ve been telling people that I’m the longest reigning champion of all-time, so maybe you get can me a trophy for 2020 too!”
