The Clink Charity has won a competitive commercial procurement process to retain its restaurant at HMP Brixton for a further five years. The charity says that the win is the culmination not only of a year of hard work, but of 11 years of reducing reoffending and working side by side with the Ministry of Justice, HMPPS and New Futures Network.

The Clink is a national rehabilitation charity, providing training opportunities and rehabilitation support to people in prison and those who could be at risk of offending. Through training projects inside and outside of prisons, students can develop new skills, interact with the public and access the support they need to successfully reintegrate into society on release.

It operates restaurants that are open to the public, training kitchens within prisons, horticulture programmes in prison gardens, an events catering social enterprise, a premium catering delivery service and an artisan bakery. It also works alongside many contract caterers.

‘Rebuilding lives’
"It is no secret that 2025 has been a difficult year, not only for The Clink, but also for the wider charity sector – and indeed for the Ministry of Justice," said Donna-Marie Edmonds, chief executive of The Clink Charity. "What is so clear, from the 11 years The Clink at Brixton has been operational, is that it rebuilds lives, reduces reoffending and changes perceptions as to what people in prison can achieve.

"We take our responsibility as custodians of this pioneering and special programme very seriously, and we look now to the future by continuing the crucial work that The Clink was founded to do."
