Levy UK recently supported the Kia Oval as one of the first venues selected by the government to host a pilot event to help enable the return of spectators to elite sports venues.

The two-day friendly cricket match between Surrey and Middlesex, which was held on 26th and 27th July, saw the limited return of 2,000 members, across both days, to the ground to evaluate the government’s ‘stage five’ guidance on the return of fans to top-level sporting events. During the event the Levy team opened key F&B outlets at the venue, including SE11 Grill, Vauxhall Pie Shop and Wanderers Bar to provide fans with an authentic match day experience.

Jon Davies, managing director of Levy UK, said: “I am immensely encouraged and proud of the Levy team for successfully stress-testing our new procedures in a live setting and safely serving over 2,000 members over the past two-days at the Kia Oval. It’s been heartening to see the smiles on the faces of fans again as they enjoy our award-winning F&B and hospitality and the long overdue return of live cricket at such an iconic venue.”

Richard Gould, chief executive of Surrey CCC, added: “From enhanced hygiene measures at the venue, clear and simple social distancing measures at our F&B outlets, to the use of contactless payment technology, Levy had developed a clear action plan for this event. Their dedicated team was able to execute against this plan with their usual precision and dedication.”
