Frost wins StrEATFood Awards

Tom Frost from The Pantry was the big winner at last night’s StrEATFood Awards. He took home the title of Street Food Dish of the Year and £1,000 in prize money for his adobo beef marrow bone and coconut flatbread. Adam Collison from Sodexo (Quedgeree-smoked Quorn kedgeree warm flatbread) and Jamie Bosworth from Blue Apple Catering (Korean bulgogi burger) were also on the podium, winning Meat-Free Dish of the Year and StrEATFood Chef of the Year respectively.

Frost, who won the vegan round at our last event, said: “It’s a combination of different things that I like and they went together really well. Anything involving bone marrow is a good thing. The flatbread had a little bit of coconut to give it that Asian vibe, and garlic butter on any bread is a win.”

The 16 talented finalists, who all work in event or business and industry catering, were shortlisted after subjecting their signature street food dishes for our panel of judges. Nick Sharma from Aramark and Jamie Bosworth from Blue Apple Catering came second and third respectively in the main competition.

Contract Catering editor Henry Norman said: “It was great to get the industry together again and our talented finalists certainly gave us plenty to enjoy and celebrate. We couldn’t have been happier with how it went. A huge congratulations to Tom, Adam and Jamie.”

The event was sponsored by Bewleys, BioPak, Britvic, Diversey, LWC, Major, Nisbets, Quorn, St. Pierre and Tugo. For more information, go to www.streatfoodawards.co.uk.
