Major Chef’s Culinary Challenge winner crowned
After battling it out against hundreds of culinary students from across England, Scotland and Wales, Rishiram Chaudhary from Eastleigh College took top spot at the recently held Major Chef’s Culinary Challenge.
The event is one of the industry’s longest-standing, most prestigious young chef competitions. Run in partnership with The Craft Guild of Chefs, the competition brings together catering students from across the UK in order to compete.
Giving students one of their first opportunities to go head-to-head with their fellow pupils, the competition allows them to showcase their skills and talent. Kick-started with regional heats in January and February, each regional winner and runner-up goes through to the national final.
Chaudhary said: “I knew the pressure would be on when on the national stage, so I practiced hard, creating my dish from scratch. My thanks go out to my lecturers at Eastleigh College for their ongoing support and guidance.”
