StrEATfood Awards finalists revealed!

The 16 contract catering chefs who will be competing at the 2022 StrEATfood Awards have been selected. They were whittled down from a huge number of entries after submitting their signature street food dishes.

The finalists are:

Aramark – Stuart Fildes – Squid Games: Takoyaki bubble waffles
BaxterStorey – Jack Wager – Shredded beef brisket with smoked aubergine, pickles and labneh
Blue Apple – Jamie Bosworth – Mackerel arepas with pineapple tomatillo salsa
CH&CO – Troy Gill – Indian street food
Elior – David Brett Lavelle – Nigerian asun with red pepper jam
Houston and Hawkes – Elliot Hilton – Squid ink bao bun
Lexington – Rowan Brooks – Ebi chiri taco
Mellors – Stuart Dale – The goat Vs the scorpion
Snaffle Caterers – Maca Makaveli – Snaffles halloumi and mushroom burger (vegetarian)
Sodexo – Adam Collison – Quackers: Crispy duck waffle
Thomas Franks – Chris Jerram – Chris's Cuban sandwich
Thyme2Dine – John Whittle – Bacon brie burger
TnS – Jack Godfrey – Anticuchos
Vacherin – Niroshan Karnan – Sri Lankan chicken curry

The fifth annual event will see them compete in a series of culinary challenges. They will be tasked with recreating their signature dishes for our panel of expert judges, with the winner taking home the prized Street Food Dish of the Year title. They will also compete in a Technical round, using products supplied on the day, and a vegetarian Quorn round.

Tom Frost, who won the main prize for The Pantry Catering last year, told us: “It was a fantastic feeling to win the big one! After competing a couple of times in the past, it was always my goal to win the main event.

“The entire event had a real buzz of chefs celebrating being back out cooking amazing food. Heading into work with the trophy in hand the next morning was definitely a highlight!
