National School Meals Week goes green

This year, LACA is focusing on green issues, with National School Meals Week (NSMW) running at the same time as COP27 (7th to 11th November). LACA knows that school caterers across the country are working hard to lessen their impact on the planet, so the theme will be ‘Together, we make a difference'.

The daily themes:
Monday – Launch day – A fun NSMW 2022 day showcasing activities for the week and making a pledge to change.
Tuesday – Go green lunch – A day of plant-based menus, showing how even changing to just one meat-free meal a week can help the environment.
Wednesday – Our local lunch – A roast dinner day showcasing the best of local British produce, which leads to reduced food miles.
Thursday – Eat more, waste less – A day that will educate children on reducing food waste, recycling and composting.
Friday – VIP day – Whether schools are inviting a VIP or local MP for lunch, or just saying thank you to staff, the final day of the week is a big thank you for the efforts of everyone involved in the school meals industry.
